The company is licensed to commercially use the latest maintained version of DIgSILENT PowerFactory 2020 software.
The founder and director of the company, Richard Murley is an experienced and competent user of DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and through his skills, the company is able to undertake the following power system design and analysis activities:
- Load Flow Analysis (AC balanced and unbalanced and DC)
- Short-Circuit Analysis (using various methods including IEC 60909, IEEE 141/ANSI C37, G74 & IEC 61363)
- Sensitivities / Distribution Factors (this is a supplementary feature to load flow analysis)
- MV/LV Network Analysis (enhanced load flow analysis using dedicated functionality for the assessment and planning of MV and LV distribution networks)
- Electromagnetic Transients (EMT/EMTP analysis of transient phenomena in power systems - e.g. switching & lightning overvoltages, inductive & capacitive element switching, transformer magnetising inrush, circuit breaker TRV, power electronic device switching)
- Protection Functions (time overcurrent grading facilitated by a comprehensive relay library based on manufacturer-specific protection devices – also distance protection and protection audit)
- Arc-Flash Analysis (various international standards for Arc-Flash Hazard calculations are supported)
- Cable Analysis (Cable Sizing and Cable Ampacity Calculation)
- Power Quality and Harmonic Analysis (Harmonic Load Flow, Flicker Analysis, Frequency Sweep, Harmonic Filter Analysis)
- Motor Starting Functions (static calculation or a dynamic simulation)
- Transient Stability Analysis Functions (RMS analysis of mid- & long-term transients. DIgSILENT Simulation Language (DSL) is used for model definition and a large library of IEEE standard models is available)
- Reliability Analysis Functions (calculation of all common reliability indices to IEEE 1366)

Richard Murley, IS the company founder and director of RGM Electrical Engineering Ltd. He is a Masters Degree qualified (UK University) Chartered Electrical Engineer with over 30 years of extensive professional experience.
His professional qualifications are:
- Registered with the Engineering Council in the UK as a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng).
- Full Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, (formerly the Institution of Electrical Engineering (IEE)) since April 1997.
- Senior Member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (North America).
- Member of CIGRE Professional Association (International Council on Large Electric Systems)
He has made a significant positive contribution to many successful and prestigious projects; this has included many projects which were of high capital value and high profile.
He has worked successfully in many industry sectors with various client companies, including major EPC Oil & Gas and Energy Contractors, Consultants and Asset Owning and Operating Companies.
His educational qualifications are:
B.Sc (Hons) (2.2), M.Eng Degree from the University of Manchester (UK) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (Graduated in 1991)
